Preparing Ourselves For Presentation

Getting ready for our Cotillion dance is not an easy task. We can't just throw a blurb up on our site, we must properly prepare ourselves and it is a long and tedious task. In preparing for today's dance, it reminded me of how much effort we gals put into preparing ourselves to simply step outside the door. Let's journey through the regiments of a debutante together.

Since the dawn of time women have gone to great lengths to prepare themselves for presentation. Even Mona Lisa had a few beauty secrets.

Bad Hair Blog has a piece for us that I know eases my anxieties about pollution. It turns out the US isn't as environmentally irresponsible as the Greenies want us to believe. Dang girl, I told you not to use that hair dresser anymore.

What's more American than gun ownership? Not much for TFS Magnum. I called her to remind her that it was time to get ready for the dance, but she was busy. Plus she's day dreaming about an $80,000 gun.

What's your legacy? What will people say about you when you die? Yeah, Right, Whatever has a touching account of how recent deaths have affected her and she asked herself, and believes that we all should, contemplate what our story would be.

Its women like this that make me optimistic. I have felt for years now that the Feminist movement has abandoned it's original mission. Its so reassuring to know that that idea is indeed true and the results of this anti-movement are making themselves evident. Emily, if I had a daughter, I wish she would have been just like you.

I wonder if the original Women Suffragists help us get rid of this little number.

Have you ever sat and visited with an older person? Someone who has seen TRUE hardships? Someone who has witnessed more than anyone else we know? Soldier's Angels has. She is promoting podcasts of these interviews and is thrilled that she will be able to do this with her own family. There is much to be learned from generations past.

Back to getting ready for our dance; I asked a couple of the girls if they wanted to go to an outdoor day spa with me and I had some takers.

One girl was kind of shy and didn't want to join the rest of us.

Whoa, they forgot to shave; better give them a call. Jody At Steal The Bandwagon has an opinion, that I think is shared by most people left or right, about the actions of the NCAA with regards to team names. This is the "PC Gone Wild Movement" that we have been attempting to warn you about for years.

Back to our dance; so a few of the girls couldn't make the mud bath but decided to give a different beauty treatment a shot. I think they went a little too far.

My regular readers know that I'm constantly hemming and hawing about Islam. So when another one of the gals does a piece on it, it's hard to resist. Villainous Company has an excellent read up about the newly issued Fatwah and how much confidence we should put into it. It was one that I sat nodding my head all the way through.

Despite what anyone might believe, I'm one of those born-again Christians. God-fearing, Jesus-loving, death, burial and resurrection Christians. When I read this over at Who Tends The Fires I got goosebumps. It's an enlightening look at this woman's spiritual journey. I believe that we all need religion in our lives and I'm greatly pleased that she found it.

Okay, I'm not even going to ask about this one.

Lastly, SDA has a link to a Canadian newspaper reporting about a new cell phone being marketed to young children. Hmm. . .you decide.

I asked Right Girl if we could wear these little numbers to the dance, because she's hosting too; she wasn't too fond of that.

Then I called Tammy because she too is a hostess. But she said that it brought back too many bad memories. So I now only have one more chance, Mary Katherine? Would you please go 70's with me to the dance? Pretty please? But seriously y'all, make sure you go and see the other ladies. We all work so hard to put on our dance just for you. Did we clean ourselves up well enough? You go be the judge.
